New Member Invitation

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to ASPA - Arusha Society for the Protection of Animals. We are an NGO based in Arusha and are active in the community raising awareness of Animal health and welfare and helping animals in need.
We currently run weekly mobile clinics for Dogs and twice weekly clinics for Donkeys.

The Mobile Dog clinics involve the ASPA team visiting various villages in and around Arusha to de-worm and vaccinate dogs against rabies. During these clinics we also assess the general health of the dogs and offer advice on how to improve the animals’ health and condition. We also provide educational material with detailed health and nutritional information for the owners of dogs in the poorest condition. Our schedule allows us return to each area a year after our previous visit to give booster vaccines and give de-worming medication.

The Donkey clinic takes place during market days. The ASPA team travels to the markets to visit the donkey owners and request permission to access the donkey’s basic health and to administer first aid, we also provide other free treatments such as worming, eye care, hoof care and wound treatment.
We then discuss donkey welfare with the owners and distribute educational material to help educate them about donkey care
There has been a long standing problem of rope burns and wounds on the donkey’s front and rear legs, especially when these ropes are supporting heavy loads for extended periods of time. To improve this situation ASPA has provided the services of passing out free plastic tubes the donkeys harness is inserted inside the tube and the tube prevents the irritating rope from rubbing and wounding the donkey’s skin.

For ASPA to conduct our clinics and continue the education of local people on animal health and welfare we rely heavily on funding, donations, private and corporate membership.

If you would like to help us with our work by becoming a member of ASPA please fill out the member form attached and take to Arusha Meat King or Tanzania Pet Care both in Arusha town center.

If you would like to volunteer for ASPA or would like any further information please contact us by email: info@aspa.co.tz

We look forward to your support
Thank You,
ASPA
